Pastor Jay is a second career Pastor, retiring after 30 years in the Information Technology industry. He was ordained on January 27, 2012 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Kingsland, Ga. After serving as a mission pastor, he retired from the ministry. After moving to Texas and becoming a member of King of Kings, Pastor Jay was installed at King of Kings as Assistant Pastor on January 29, 2019.

Kim joined the staff in August 2008 and has been a member of King of Kings since March 1998.  Kim has served on the Fellowship, Education, and Trustee boards.  Kim currently serves on the Technology committee.  She has two kids and enjoys sewing, playing the flute and handbells.

I have been a member of King of Kings since 1991.  I am married and have 2 kids.  I have served on the ECDC oversight committee/board, the Stewardship board, and I was Sunday School Superintendent for 2 years.  I enjoy going to movies. concerts and traveling.

Been a member of King of Kings since 2007 after serving 29 years in the Air Force, retiring as a Colonel. Wife Cindy is a retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel. Son Scott and his wife are Air Force Majors currently assigned to the Pentagon and have a son Wyatt who is 2 ½ years old. Daughter Megan works for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality in Austin. Her husband Barry is Operations Director for Down Home Ranch, a ranch retreat for special needs adults near Elgin, TX. They have TWO sets of twins: 5 yr old Benjamin and David, and 10 month old Evan and Jack. I’ve served as Praise Team director for 10 years. Also, served on the Board of Elders and was Head Elder two years, in addition to the Worship and Music Committee. Hobbies include model railroading, diy anything, camping and woodworking. Also, have an interest in all kinds of music-I play the guitar and keyboard.
Joseph McKelvey

Joseph McKelvey is from Alice, Texas and earned his music degrees at Texas A&M University at Kingsville where his main instruments of study were clarinet, saxophone, piano, and organ. His teachers/mentors included Dr. Robert Scott, Susan Etlzer, and Lee Gwodz on organ; and Dr. Jan Drath on piano. Mr. McKelvey has held church organist and music director positions dating back to the late 1990’s. He served as the staff musician and associate organist at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Kingsville, Texas. From 1998 to 2004, he served as the organist and co-music director at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. He also served as interim music director and organist at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Kingsville, Texas, as well as substitute organist at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. After a 12 year “retirement” from organ performance, Mr. McKelvey is extremely happy to serve as the organist at King Of Kings Lutheran Church since March 2019, and to provide great music for Sunday morning worship and all other services. Mr. McKelvey is a member of the following professional organizations: National Association of Pastoral Musicians, American Guild of Organists, Association of Young American Organists, Texas Music Educator’s Association, Texas Bandmaster’s Association, International Clarinet Association.

Hello my name is Lisa Avila and I'm the Director at King of Kings Early Childhood Development Center. I'm married to David and we have two wonderful daughters. I was born and raised here in San Antonio Texas. I have 20 years experience working in a licensed child care setting. Through the 20 years I've worked with all ages of children as both a teacher's aid and a lead teacher. I love working with children and look forward to each day I get to spend with them.

Hi, my name is Amanda Laboy Rodriguez, but I go by Mandy. I was born and raised in Bethlehem Pennsylvania and moved to San Antonio 5 years ago,  I am a mother of four wonderful sons, three which attend KOK and one who works as an afternoon teacher.  His name is Julio.  My husband Andres and I have been married 14 wonderful years! I have worked at KOK a total of four years!  I started here as a teacher in 2015 and left in 2018 when I found out I was pregnant with my last son.  I took a year off during my pregnancy and came back when Fabian was 5 months old. We love it here at King of Kings and are very happy to be a part of the KOK family.  I have always loved working with children both as a teacher and Children's Ministry Leader at my church. I am now blessed and so privileged to be serving as the Assistant Director alongside our Director Lisa Avila.
