Sunday School All Ages

Sunday School is a passion at King of Kings.  We learn about our great God through the study of His Word given to us.  We study the truths He has revealed and then honor Him by attempting to live a life that reflects what we have learned.

All classes occur from 9:30 - 10:30 AM each Sunday.  The adults meet in the fellowship hall in the basement of the church.  The mature youth, grades 10-12 meet in the meeting room located in fellowship hall, in the basement of the church by the kitchen.  The fresh youth, grades 7-9 meet in the metal building located behind the ECDC building, see map.  The children, pre-K through 6 grade meet in the ECDC building cafeteria and then after a large group opening split off into age based groups.

Adults are current in a large group study.  Pastor Neldo Schmidt is leading Seeing Through The Scriptures which gives an understanding of the entire Bible narrative.

Youth will be starting an age appropriate study from Concordia Publishing House called Real Deal.  These are studies based on issue our youth are faced with in school and life.  They will also from time to time have special apologetic sessions to learn how to defend the truth of scripture.

Children will be starting a new program September 2, 2018 called Cross Explorations from Concordia Publish House.  This program follow a large group small group pattern where children all start together in a large group to open and worship with song and words.  They then break out to age appropriate groups to study a Bible Truth and finally wrap up by doing activities that help them understand the Bible Truth being taught that day.

Welcome to King of Kings

It's common for people to feel a bit anxious when visiting a new church.  Our hope is that the information here will help you know more about us at King of Kings and by knowing a little about us and what to expect will greatly reduce the anxiety you may have in being a guest.

What is Worship

Worship is not something we do for our God, it is our triune God; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, delivering His grace to us through reading, preaching and proclamation of His Word and Sacraments.  Through worship that is centered on Jesus Christ we receive gifts from God.

Our Worship Style and Times

King of Kings has two services each Sunday at 8:00 AM and 10:45 AM.  Both services follow a liturgy, or predefined order, for worship.  The 8:00AM service follows a very traditional Lutheran order of service.  The congregation sings traditional hymns from the hymnal accompanied by an organ.  While there is no set dress code people who attend the 8:00 AM service tend to dress formally.  The 10:45 service also follows a traditional Lutheran order of service.  The congregation sings contemporary songs lead by a praise team as well as hymns accompanied by the organ.  Dress at this service tends to be much more casual and you may find a family in formal attire as well as those in jeans and t-shirt.

(I will have video clips, 30 second clips, of worship service clips that show different things like procession, singing, sermon, possibly readings etc to give people an idea of what worship is like)

Both services are lead by the Pastor and each has readings from scripture.  Just so you know we do stand, knell and sit at different times throughout the service, if you are able.  We have videos clips of our services to give you an example of what worship is like at King of Kings

Worship Length

Most services last one hour, though at times a service may last an hour and fifteen minutes.

Children - Nursery Care

Children are welcome at all worship services.  We have a nursery available for children 0-3 years old beginning at 9:15 and running through end of the 10:45 service.  Those attending the 8:00AM service with children have a cry room available to them.  On the second and fourth Sunday of each month the Pastor will have a children’s message.  During this message children are encouraged to go up and sit with the Pastor while he talks with them.  Parents of smaller children are encouraged to accompany their children.

Bible Study

We have an adult Bible study from 9:30-10:30 AM.  All are welcome at the Bible Study.  Our current study is Seeing Through The Scriptures lead by Pastor Schmidt.

What Should I Expect

It is common for people to feel uncomfortable when visiting a new church.  We hope you'll find King of Kings to be a warm, friendly environment where people gather for worship, learning and relationship building.  Attend a few worship services (with no pressure to join into membership) and experience God's Word and Spirit of Truth and Love.

 Two Services/Styles:

   1)  A traditional Lutheran worship service at 8:00 A.M.

   2)  A less formal combination of tradition and modern music at 10:45 A.M.

We welcome children at both services!

After visiting a few worship services, consider attending a Bible Class which are held between services at 9:30 A.M.  We have many different study opportunities including the Foundations of Faith class geared to those who don't know about Christianity or simply want to refresh their understanding of it.

Go ahead!  Check out King of Kings and experience solid biblical teaching and lots of friendly smiles!  There is no 'one size fits all' process to getting connected to King of Kings.   Nevertheless we hope you will!

This Sunday

As We Gather Sunday July 29, 2018

Tenth Sunday after Pentecost

God cares for us, but we aren’t always aware of it. When Jesus stilled the storm that was hindering the disciples in the boat, all they saw was His power, and they were terrified. But when other people saw Him, they recognized a healer and brought the sick to Him. God always cares, of course; the rainbow is a reminder He won’t flood the earth again—out of care for us. In today’s Epistle, Paul prays that God’s love in Christ would fill us. God will do that; He cares that much for us. We ask today that God would strengthen us to care for the people around us. May they see His love through our caring.
